Whoa: William Gibson [10/21/04]
I hate to keep spamming Gibson here, but he's saying things that make me want to jump up and say "hell yeah!" on a daily basis. Take this excerpt for instance:
"Indeed, I believe that the [political] spectrum forms a full circle, with right and left merging, as they meet at their respective extremes, into luminous batshit evil."
Is that not the most sane thing you've heard all month? It's like all the pieces are laying there, but I can't see the connections until I read something like that and *click* it all makes much more sense.
"In very much the sense that Bush is not actually a Christian, likewise is he nothing remotely conservative. Believing Bush is conservative in any traditional sense is like believing that a Formula One racer with the Perrier logo on its side is full of mineral water."
<Jon Stewart>You have just blown my mind.</Jon Stewart>

Wow: The Case Against George W. Bush
"We have reached a critical juncture in our nation's history, one ripe with both danger and possibility. We need leadership with the wisdom to prudently confront those dangers and the imagination to boldly grasp the possibilities. Beyond issues of fiscal irresponsibility and ill-advised militarism, there is a question of trust. George W. Bush and his allies don't trust you and me. Why on earth, then, should we trust them?"
I'm consistently amazed by the maturity and thoughtfulness of Ron Reagan, Jr. and this article is no exception. It's a trifle long, but well worth your time.
The sad fact is that because of the very mindset described in the article, Bush supporters will never read this essay. They wouldn't dare pollute their minds with such truthful statements and fact-based opinions.

Download: GDI Vulnerability Tester
A few weeks back Microsoft announced a vulnerability in their GDI+ API which allowed code to be executed by a maliciously constructed jpeg file. Soon after they released a utility which would scan Windows to see if your machine was open to attack. The problem was that it only checked for Microsoft software and even then wouldn't tell you which specific components were vulnerable.
This utility, release by the SANS organization, lists each GDI+ component on your machine and whether or not it might be vulnerable.
